The program presents less known works by Italian composers fo the 20th century. The cello sonatas by Leone Sinigaglia is clearly inspired by Brahms and Faurè with a very complex architecture that doesn't affect the freedom for the instruments to sing. Guido Alberto Fano wrote the cello sonata also inspired by Brahms and Liszt with a strong drama created by an intense dialogue between the two instruments. The Sonata by Omizzolo is also a gem in the Italian instrumental repertoire. It was written with a large use of the counterpoint technique and by using the dodecafonic language, he was a pioneer and one of the few composers who embraced the Second Viennese School.
